I’m BAAAACCCKKK!!

Did you miss me?! I am finally finished college, and so am back and ready to resume normal programming. I am still really exhausted, given that I havn’t really slept since Easter trying to get everything done…So, while I get myself together and start figuring out to do with myself (someone give me a job, please?!), here are some images of what I have been doing with myself. Hope you like them! For anyone around Dublin, the NCAD degree show opens next Friday, the 10th June and runs until Sunday 19th June. I highly recommend popping down to check out this year’s crop of next big things across fine art and design.

Also, Forbidden Fruit tomorrow! Very excited, the line up is amazing and I have been helping to organise a fashion challenge where a bunch of fashion students are going to create garments out of recycled paper on stage! Should be a good laugh, will have pics to follow soon!

Happy Bank Holiday Weekend! xx

It’s Been a while….

i’v been useless over the past couple of weeks, between trips to NYC, broken laptops, crazy deadlines & a general air of all-over-the-place-ness. i’m not excusing it, just saying…….

anyway, i am in the middle of browsing through the fall 2010 collecitons and a number of issues are arising already. some of these things i agree with, some i do not.

1) the yeti coat
2) an over use of animal print
3) scarlet fever
4) navy & black
5) the midriff returns
6) summer colours for winter
7) the pantsuit kicks back
8 ) 70′s trouser shapes

and i’m only on the letter B!!!! realistically it will probably be a week before i get through them all, and a while more before i have an opion to share. I’l leave you for the moment with a look that i like from what i have seen, even if it is very Gucci from the Tom Ford era…actually, that’s probably why i like it…

Exciting!!

When news that Sonia Rykiel was collaborating with H&M first hit, I was very excited. The subsequent lingerie line was delightful, but sadly, not the Sonia Rykiel knitwear we all hoped for. Well, this time around, it’s exactly that. Launching on February 20th (so soon!), Sonia’s collection is right on the money. I actually cannot wait!

The Day the Circus Left Town

Dublin is a funny old place. It’s like a really flawed family member that refuses to reach its potential. I love it anyway, for its moments of brilliance and bizarre charm.
Today though, I am very sad that the amazing Circus is closing its Powerscourt doors. Circus was a beacon of avant-garde possibilities for Dublin – part gallery, part clothes boutique run by the most lovely people. They stocked fantastic labels, really cutting edge design. I own a jacket from their previous incarnation, Proxy, and it is one of my favourite things.
It’s a real shame that the current economic and cultural climate means that a store like Circus can’t ride out the storm, because we need more of it, not less, to build the city into what Dublin should be.
Circus will be sorely missed by many people (unfortunately, a lot of whom couldnt afford to buy anything :( )
Here’s the website – have a look, to pay a final tribute to a truly wonderful shop – Circus Store

horsing around

i’v loved hermes for a long time for many different reasons. when i was young, i coveted a hermes saddle (for my wonderful horse, Herbie). These days, the appeal is less equstrian, more fashion. The bags, the scarves…well you know the deal. But rather than me bang on about it, why don’t you while away a time admiring their delightful website. It’s as unique as their products.

Enjoy!
